Grants and Funding

The Fleming Fund builds partnerships across Sub-Saharan Africa, South and South-East Asia that support countries to collect, analyse, share and use high-quality data on antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Country Grants

Country grants provide funding to grantees to work with national governments to improve One Health laboratory capacity and AMR surveillance.

In this phase of the Fleming Fund, we are working in 24 priority countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and South-East Asia.

Typical first round country grants are allocated for a period of 12-24 months and funding envelopes differ per country based upon the needs and assessed priorities.

Regional Grants

Regional grants provide funding to grantees to collect, synthesise and share both new and historical AMR data, map and plan capacity across regions, and strengthen regional capacity, including working with regional institutions to provide training, quality assurance and regional surveillance.

Typical regional grants are allocated for a period of 18-24 months and complement and support country grants.

Other Projects

The Fleming Fund supports a range of additional projects delivered at national, regional and global levels to support the generation, sharing and use of high-quality AMR data. These all align closely with the country and regional grants and fellowships portfolio and support further achievement of Fleming Fund objectives.
