Timor-Leste published its National Action Plan on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in 2017.
The Fleming Fund has supported Timor-Leste on the development of its National Action Plan (NAP) through the Global Grant to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The Fleming Fund also supported a WHO-SEARO, FAO, OIE intercountry meeting in July 2018 where an intersectoral team comprising human health, animal health and environmental sectors from Timor-Leste participated. The objective of the meeting was to monitor progress, identify and address gaps in implementing AMR NAPs in WHO’s South-East Asia Region Member States.
The Fleming Fund has worked with Timor Leste’s National Steering Committee on AMR to develop a Request For Proposals (RFP) for a grant that can support the implementation of key priorities from the countries National Action Plan.
The aim is to support Timor Leste’s action to strengthen the One Health approach to information sharing and strengthen AMR and antimicrobial usage (AMU) surveillance systems in both animal and human health sectors.
Menzies School of Health Research (Menzies) has been awarded a Fleming Fund Country Grant to support testing and surveillance for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Timor-Leste.
